As simple as a countdown timer for a rocket launch.

It is simple, even though the science behind it is complex, even though the outcome is a massive achievement… launching your fitness career is as simple as …

3…2…1… Get Ready for the LAUNCH!

That’s what 6000+ people have done in the last 7 years with us.  They came, they conquered and they launched into fitness and coaching.

Today I’m going to share with you the big 3 countdown steps to becoming a personal trainer and launching your fitness career, even though you have no qualifications or experience at the moment

Knowing these three steps is going to simplify your entire journey, strip away overwhelm and allow you to focus on becoming the best Personal Trainer you can be.

Let me share a couple of stories with you…

I’ll kick start with Barney.  Let’s rewind back to the summer of 2014 when he graduated as a Level 3 Personal Trainer – the same he graduated from University.  All set to head towards a Masters at Uni, he decided to launch as a personal trainer in London.  I spoke with him just this afternoon in fact and he is killing it!

However, let me introduce you to Tony his story is quite different, he graduated 6 months back:

Tony’s Story To Become a Personal Trainer:

As a Communications Team Manager, I used to find my Job challenging and exciting, especially the thought of promotion up through the ranks. But over the last year a lot has changed, I suppose… I changed! Although I still work hard at work and get great results, there isn’t much challenge or variation, it is still the same desk, the same team members and the same problems day-in-day-out.

I was taking three bags to work with me, one with all of my prepared food for the day, one with my workout and wash kit, and one with my work files. And when I sit back and think about that now, I was literally living for the weekend and evenings. As a kids football coach one evening a week, I loved the feeling of making a difference on my coaching sessions, but felt stuck, assuming I could never make coaching my full-time job.

A friend of mine mentioned becoming a personal trainer, and I flirted with the idea for a good few months dreaming up the possibilities and researching into income and how feasible it actually is. In reality I didn’t expect I would actually ever do it – I just couldn’t see myself leaving the comfort of my job, and also I thought that I had to be young to become a personal trainer.

I spoke to Hayley at Parallel Coaching and I was genuinely surprised how quick and simple it would be to get qualified, and more so I came off the phone super excited about improving my coaching skills for football and taking that next step towards a more meaningful career.

What happened next?

The next 3 months whizzed by, and I have never enjoyed learning so much. But now, 6 months after qualifying, I am holding the reins of my future in my hands. I gradually increased my coaching work, and added in personal training around my current Team Manager position. My managers were surprisingly flexible and allowed me to gradually reduce my hours, and this week I walked out on the job entirely.

It’s amazing to be able to call myself a Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach.  I specialize in reigniting activity with 30+ Men, using a mix of football and fitness. We use the local sports fields and I have never laughed so much in my life. I love working with these guys, and am already getting great results – I still find it hard to call this “work”.

I have NEVER picked my daughter up from school, and this week I have been able to collect her from school and take her down the park every day, it sounds really minor, but the freedom to work the hours I want and spend time with my family has been the biggest game-changer for me…

Your Story

If you are anything like Tony was 9 months ago then, it’s a frustrating place to be, knowing that you aren’t living your full potential, and not really enjoying your day-to-day routine.

What I really loved about Tony’s Story is that he is not an anomaly; genuinely stories like this are flooding in from graduates who have decided to change things up a gear and become a personal trainers.

Can you see your story panning out like Tony’s, have you been sitting at work thinking about a different type of career, about maximizing your coaching and becoming a personal trainer?

Possibly the biggest feedback we get from people is that they don’t know why they didn’t do it sooner. Fear of the unknown puts the brakes on your career move, and the uncertainty of what is to follow can feel like a massive turn-off to take that step. But, Tony was in the same situation, he had been thinking of a career change for years, and thinking about how to become a personal trainer for months. But what he didn’t do was take action sooner. If Tony had taken action and started to plan his career change sooner – he would have had many more weeks of picking his daughter up from school.

If you are still with me then #High5, you are clearly thinking long and hard about shifting career to become a personal trainer.
