Mapping Your Fitness Career

Starting your fitness career isn’t one-size-fits-all! Typically, kickstarting with the foundational Level 2 Gym Instructor course, your journey unfolds into unique paths.

This blog will share a flow chart diagram to make it easy to see your route ahead. Plus you can explore more about each course, watch a quick video and get clear on your future fitness career path.

Mapping Your Fitness Career – Understanding the Flow

Typically, it begins with the Level 2 Gym Instructor course, a foundational step in shaping the core skills of a fitness professional. The paths that unfold from there are the differences that allow you to shape your whole career.

What is the Level 2 Gym Instructor Course?

The Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification is the starting point for a career in fitness.

Some trainee FITPROs will continue to deepen their skillset onto the Level 3 PT, or to work with special populations.

Other trainee FITPROs prefer to start with just the level 2 gym instructor, where they can get a job in a gym.

Our personal training courses have been expertly designed with your continued success in mind.

Our programs go beyond the basics and our learning content, materials, and support exceed anything else on the market.

Here’s an insight into the type of courses you might choose based on your personalised path:

Level 2 Circuit Instructor Course:

Dive into group training dynamics, where energy and motivation ignite.

Circuit Training is often called something else such as Bootcamp, HiiT, functional training, or even a fat loss class.

Regardless of the name, at the heart of all these sessions is a circuit-style approach.

Ultimately a series of exercises that utilises a range of equipment and bodyweight exercises to challenge a client’s work rate and recovery.

This approach to training remains incredibly popular in health clubs, private studios, and out in the park.

If you are a L2 gym instructor or L3 personal trainer, you are able to teach one-to-one sessions and small groups, however, you are not permitted to plan and deliver circuits to groups.

This circuit qualification fulfils this gap in your knowledge and confidence to be able to plan and deliver safe and effective group exercise

At the other end of the age spectrum is the Level 2 Children’s fitness course.

This is the industry’s most popular ‘Children’s Fitness‘ qualification and a must-have if you want to instruct individuals or groups of children aged 5-16 years.

Physical Activity sessions for Children, come in all shapes and sizes. It may be that you set up family boot camps, kids one-to-one sessions, teenage confidence-building classes, freelance in schools, or even your own private activity-focused birthday parties.

Regardless of the style of activity, at the heart of all these sessions is a promotion of health-related exercise for children.

If you are an L2 gym or fitness instructor (or more), you are able to teach one-to-one sessions and small group sessions with adults, however, you are not permitted to plan and deliver activity sessions for those under 16 years.

This Children’s Fitness qualification fulfils this gap in your knowledge and confidence to be able to plan and deliver safe and effective children’s activities.
