Have I left My Revision Too Late? 5 steps to make the most of the time before the exam

Have I left My Revision Too Late?

We hear this question so often, in fact, it is the question that most commonly arrives in our inbox… well here’s our answer.

Firstly it isn’t too late!!! As long as you don’t give up!

So in this video, I share the 5 steps to make the most of the time that you have left before the exam, even if you feel you have left it too late…

Have I left my revision too late?

Step 1. Time

Firstly, you need to know how long you have until your exam… in hours, not days! So rather than saying you have 2 days until your exam, look at your diary – how many hours of REVISION do you have?
Leave a comment below and let me know how late you have left it – how many hours do you have left?

Step 2. Focus

You need to know which areas to focus your attention on. And the best way to do this is to download mock questions, check your answers and look for specific trends. You are looking for areas that you may be weaker/ stronger in, and also look for trends, is it that you need to learn more, or is it that you need to brush up on your exam strategy?

Using the mock questions will give you a great understanding of the areas to focus your revision towards.

Step 3. Cross Reference

In an ideal world you need to check what will be covered on your exam, the best way to do this is to use the syllabus as a checklist for areas that you have revised.

Step 4. Schedule

Combining all of the previous three steps, you can now create a schedule. For this, you need to be specific to make sure you are studying the most important/ your weaker areas. You also need to set clear and achievable time slots… and commit to sticking to these.

If you are wondering “have I left my revision too late” then the COMMITMENT element of this step is key. It is important that you don’t let yourself get overwhelmed or anxious and instead look to take action and move closer to the exam day having done the work.

Step 5: Learn

The way you learn will dramatically affect the productivity of your revision sessions. Therefore, if you find the best learning style for you, you will find you can fit even more into your revision schedule … even if you only have a few hours.

Video and Audio are great for this, as they condense the time it takes to read the same information.
